Press Release, February 24, 2016 – Join Hospice Hawaii For Its 7th Annual Hot Pursuit Fundraiser
HONOLULU (February 24, 2016) – Do you have brains and brawn? Hospice Hawaii is now accepting entries for its 7th annual Hot Pursuit, an “Amazing Race” style event where teams of 2 to 6 participants race in search of mystery locations, all while solving riddles and completing fun and unusual tasks along the way. Presented by Par Hawaii (a new company that emerged from the joining of Mid Pac Petroleum and Hawaii Independent Energy), the 2016 Hot Pursuit event will take place on April 30, 2016, at Waterfront Plaza/Kakaako.
“Hot Pursuit is about a little friendly competition and having fun, while raising funds to support Hospice Hawaii’s mission, which is to bring hope, reduce fears, and impact lives,” says Kenneth Zeri, president and chief professional officer of Hospice Hawaii. “This event is also being held to bring awareness to National Healthcare Decisions Day, which is an initiative to encourage people to make their future healthcare wishes known and protected with an advance health care directive.” Hundreds of participants will race around Kakaako solving riddles in the pursuit of prizes. Participants will receive clues to mystery destinations and race to be the first to cross the finish line. Prizes will be awarded in six race categories, including Top Fundraiser, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Finishers, Top Student Finisher, and Best Spirit Award. In addition to the race, Hot Pursuit participants will enjoy family-friendly activities including face painting, balloon artistry, live entertainment, a mobile gaming truck, and more.
“Hospice care touches the lives of so many in Hawaii and is incredibly rewarding for patients with life limiting illnesses and for their families,” said Lance Tanaka, Par Hawaii’s director of government and public affairs. “Par Hawaii is honored to serve as the presenting sponsor of Hot Pursuit! for the seventh straight year. It’s a fun way for the whole family to get a workout for our minds and bodies, while helping others in our community.” The race begins at the Waterfront Plaza in Kakaako at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 30. Team registration is open and all are invited to register in groups of 2-6 people, with each team pledging to raise a minimum of $250. Funds raised will help support Hospice Hawaii’s programs and services. For more information and to register for the event, visit www.HotPursuitHI.com, or call (808) 791-8045.
