Caring For Caregivers

At Hospice Hawaii we’re always looking for new ways to support our patients and their loved ones. Hospice Hawaii offers Caregiver Support Services to provide patients and families with valuable information, tools for care, and connection with other caregivers who are in similar situations.

Interactive Learning

Interactive Learning sessions are held on the first Friday of every month. Patients and families have the opportunity to discuss topics varying from storytelling to fitness and also to participate in interactive activity days featuring yoga, arts and massages.

Upcoming Topics:

June 5 Mixed Media Art: Honoring our Loved Ones:
A Hospice Hawaii counselor and art therapist will lead participants in an art activity to express their feelings about their loved ones for whom they are caring. Participants are asked to bring photos of their loved one to this session.

July 1 Art of Caregiving:
Hospice Hawaii counselor and art therapist will lead art therapy activity to help participants express their emotions and identity as a caregiver through art.

August 5 Fitness and Health:
Guest speakers will lead participants in exercise tips and healthy eating.

September 2 Video:
Video shown TBD. The purpose will be to help with continuing education and inspiration for caregivers.

October 7 Spa/Massage Day:
Participants will enjoy an hour of massage and relaxation to help support their own self-care routine and overall well-being.

November 4 Surviving the Holidays:
Providing support and discussion on how to cope through the holiday season as a caregiver.

December 2 Gathering and Connecting:
Relaxed end-of-the-year gathering.

Caregiver Support Group

A Caregiver Support Group meets on the first Friday of each month from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm at our Hospice Hawaii office. To register, contact Bereavement Counselor Aki Morita at 808-282-3629 or email

Interactive learning and support group sessions are held at the Hospice Hawaii Administrative office in the Board Room. Volunteers are also available by request to provide companionship to patients for caregivers attending the meetings.
